Preparing for your Saddle Fit Evaluation

To make sure we have plenty of time to throughly evaluate you, your horse, and your saddle, please review the following before your appointment. 

• Plan for 2-3 hours for your initial evaluation. Every horse is different so the amount of time needed can vary. Please keep in mind appointment times are approximate especially when scheduling multiple horses. 

• Please avoid scheduling a lesson, farrier, vet, bodyworker or other appointments on fitting day. 

• Be prepared to ride. This is an important step when evaluating saddle fit.

• Practice having your horse stand still and square. Accurate measurements require your horse to stand square and remain still. Spend a little time practicing this before your appointment.

Once we have taken measurements of the horse, rider, and saddle you will ride for a few minutes without a saddle pad.

Riding without a pad allows me to clearly observe how the saddle is sitting and moving while you ride.

Bring your current saddle- even if you are planning to purchase a new one. Evaluating your current saddle is an important part of the process.

After you ride, we will review your options.

1. Your saddle is fitting well and everything looks good. 

2. Your current saddle can be improved. In some cases, the saddle can be adjusted or the fit can be improved through appropriate use of your existing saddle pad or a ThinLine shimmable pad. 

3. Your saddle is not a good fit and cannot be corrected. You will have the information you need to make your next decision. 

4. Try an adjustable saddle. You will have the opportunity to ride in one of our adjustable saddles to compare different options. 

 

FEES 

• The evaluation fee is $169 within 80 miles of Crossville, TN. Additional horses of the same owner is $124 per horse. 

• The evaluation fee is $124 per horse if you haul to our farm in Crossville, TN.

• We accept cash, checks, Paypal, Venmo. We do not accept credit cards.
